The Dallas Mavericks (English: Dallas Mavericks}, abbreviation: DAL) is a professional basketball team located in Dallas, Texas, United States. It belongs to the Southwest Division of the NBA West and its home court is the American Airlines Center. The team owner is Mark Cuban, who is known for his unruly words and deeds and distinctive personal style.

The English team name Mavericks originally meant a maverick [a]. It was commonly translated as "Mavericks" in mainland China and Taiwan, and "cowboys" in Hong Kong and Macao. In January 2018, the team officially designated the Chinese translation as Mavericks[2][3][4].

The team was founded in 1980 and entered the NBA Finals for the first time in the 2006 season. However, after two consecutive wins and four consecutive losses, the team could only watch the Miami Heat, who also entered the finals for the first time, win the championship. In 2011, the Mavericks once again entered the NBA Finals and met the Heat again. However, this time the Mavericks took sweet revenge with 4:2, winning the first championship in team history and led by Novi, who is regarded as the greatest star in the history of the team. Tsky won the Finals MVP.
