The Charlotte Hornets (English: Charlotte Hornets, abbreviation: CHA) are an NBA basketball team located in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. They belong to the Southeast Division of the East and their home court is the Spectrum Center. The original Charlotte Hornets were founded in 1988, moved to New Orleans in 2002, and were renamed the New Orleans Hornets. In 2004, the league established a new team in Charlotte: the Charlotte Bobcats. In 2013, the New Orleans Hornets changed their name to the New Orleans Pelicans, hoping to return the Hornets team name to Charlotte with the original Charlotte Hornets' season records from 1988 to 2002. In 2014, the Bobcats officially changed their name to the Charlotte Hornets and took over the season record. Starting from the 2014-15 season, they played under the new team name.
